Projects and budgets
Projects lists every project Cardinal has seen, with hours, sessions, leverage, real cost, API-equivalent cost and the effective rate earned over all time, with a badge against your floor. A row shows subscription for tracked days on which no session started.
A project's page
- Budget: a bar split into your time (your hours at a rate) and AI (the real subscription cost in rands) against the budget, with ticks at 75% and 90%.
- Traditional build: hours a senior developer would need to build it without AI.
- Revenue: quoted, invoiced and paid amounts. Invoiced and paid count as earned; quotes don't.
- Time entries: add time with this project already chosen.
- Cost by model, hot files, sessions and pull requests.
- "Edit label" to change who the work is for and what kind it is.
Budgets
Set a budget in rands (excluding VAT), and optionally a rate for your time, % done, a count-from date and a note. "Remove budget" takes it away.
- The rate for your time comes from the budget, else the client's default rate, else your floor.
- Levels: On budget, Past 75%, Past 90%, Over budget. Alerts show at 75%, 90% and 100%.
- Scope creep: an alert when the budget burns 15 points or more ahead of % done, with the forecast overrun.
- Pace: when the budget runs out at the pace of the last 14 days.
- Forecast at completion, when % done is set.
- What's left, in hours of your time.
With no budget set, the project's quotes (else its invoices) stand in, and the page says so.
Traditional build
Claude estimates, per session, how long the work would take without AI. The project shows the sum. Type your own figure to replace it, or clear it to go back to Claude's estimate.
