The Day view and time entries
Day shows one day at a time. Day on its own opens today.
Reading the page
- A week strip at the top, Monday to Sunday, with hours per day.
- The day as a column from 06:00 to 22:00 (SAST). "Show full day" shows all 24 hours. A line tells you when blocks fall outside the window.
- Grey blocks are tracked Claude sessions. They are read-only and link to the session.
- A hatched strip marks stretches where only the AI was working.
- Coloured blocks are your own entries, one colour per client. A running entry pulses.
- The totals rail: your hours, billable, non-billable, tracked only, and overlap removed, then a row per client, with Unassigned and Internal shown apart.
- Gaps of 30 minutes or more between 08:00 and 18:00 on weekdays, each with a "Fill in" link that opens the form with the time filled in.
Adding an entry
Use New entry. Fill in the date, the start (SAST), and either an end time or a duration such as 1h30, 90m or 1:30. Then client, project, kind and a note.
- A project sets its client.
- Billable follows the project's work type, else the client's default.
- Kinds: meeting, call, coding, admin, sales, learning, other.
- An end at or before the start runs into the next day. Past 12 hours, Cardinal tells you how long the entry has become so you can fix it.
- Overlaps with other entries are allowed; Cardinal shows a notice.
- An entry billed on an issued invoice is locked and can't be edited or deleted.
Keys
Left and right arrows move a day, t goes to today, n starts a new entry, and Esc leaves a field.
Entries also appear on each project page under Time entries, and you can add time there with the project already chosen.
