Cardinal by RAMCOREOpen Cardinal

Removing Cardinal from a computer

Setup on your computer. Cardinal has no uninstall script yet; these steps undo what the install line did on a Mac or on Windows.

There is no uninstall script yet. These steps undo exactly what the install line did. Do the last step, revoking the key, whatever computer it was.

On a Mac

  1. Stop the runner and remove its login item:
launchctl bootout gui/$(id -u) ~/Library/LaunchAgents/dev.ramcore.cardinal.runner.plist
rm ~/Library/LaunchAgents/dev.ramcore.cardinal.runner.plist
  1. Remove the runner's files from ~/.config/cardinal: cardinal-runner.mjs, runner.json, runner.log and the runner-work folder. Leave anything else in that folder alone; other Cardinal tools may keep files there.

On Windows

  1. In PowerShell, remove the Scheduled Task:
Unregister-ScheduledTask -TaskName 'Cardinal runner' -Confirm:$false
  1. Delete the Cardinal folders in %LOCALAPPDATA% and %APPDATA%.

Claude settings (both)

Open your Claude settings file (~/.claude/settings.json, or %USERPROFILE%\.claude\settings.json on Windows) and remove what Cardinal added:

  • under env: CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_TELEMETRY, OTEL_METRICS_EXPORTER, OTEL_LOGS_EXPORTER, OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_PROTOCOL, OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT, OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_HEADERS and CARDINAL_SETUP_VERSION
  • under hooks, the SessionEnd entry whose address ends in /api/hooks/session

You can instead restore the backup the installer made next to the file (its name starts with settings.json.cardinal-backup-), but that also undoes any changes you made to your settings since.

Revoke the key

Every install line carries its own key. Open your member page (Team, then your name) and press Revoke next to the key for that computer. Until you do, anything still holding the key could send usage for you.
